Derren Brown is brilliant, I am a huge fan lol. I own his 3 of his DVDs and his book ‘Tricks of the Mind’ which I highly recommend both as an entertaining read and as a useful insight into the ways the mind can be tricked and pseudoscience.
Feel free to delete that first bit if you don’t want the spoiler there, Damian… I didn’t think about that… though it doesn’t really give away the system.
The probabilities system works where you pack thousands of sick people wanting to be healed into healing crusades as well
Indeed, and I also see it as a great lesson for boundaries to one’s thinking. If you look narrowly at a specific instance of something it can seem very improbable (magicians and con artists rely on this heavily) but when you expand the boundary of your thinking suddenly it becomes not only possible but easily explained, and often (as in The System) inevitable.

Thanks for the recommendation Ian; I’ll have to add that to my list of books to buy.
I agree. People like Derren Brown do us all a service by pointing out how we can be conned. He’s one of the “good guys”.
Brilliant!!! Hopefully she worked out pretty quickly that he had put 4000 pounds each way at the end.
